Theresa
92-year-old Lowton resident Teresa has been the primary carer for her 72-year-old daughter Anne who, following a fall lives in a Wigan nursing home. Theresa now lives on her own and is not confident enough to use public transport to visit Anne, She is on a tight budget so therefore taxi visits to see Anne were rare. By using volunteer drivers Theresa now visits Anne three times a week.
Theresa is a lot happier living independently knowing that all her journeys are pre-booked, our drivers will always help her door to door and wait at the nursing home while she visits Anne, we even stop off at Aldi on the way home and have a quick scoot around with her.
Anne is also a lot more settled in the home knowing that she is getting regular visits from mum. The Driven project has provided a reliable, flexible and friendly service that has enabled Theresa and Anne to maintain the regular contact they craved over the last 12 months
It is only recently that Theresa celebrated her 92nd birthday, so as she has no other family apart from Anne in the UK her regular driver - Tina took her out to Trebaron Garden Centre for Afternoon Tea as a special treat.
